University Communications will present a workshop with world-leading research communicator Dennis Meredith on Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 1-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. 

“Communicating Science” is open to faculty, researchers, graduate students, and staff. 

Meredith will instruct faculty members and grad students on how to effectively explain their research to audiences important to their success, including colleagues in their own and other fields, administrators, donors, legislators, officers at foundations and funding agencies, journalists, and the public. The workshop also aims at helping faculty members work effectively with the university’s public information officers to reach these audiences.

Meredith is acknowledged as one of the forces over the past half century in growing research communication from universities to lay audiences. He was a science communicator for MIT, Caltech, Cornell, and Duke, and is the author of several science fiction books.

Refreshments will be served at the free event, which will be held at the Alumni & Visitors Center on 3701 Canyon Crest Drive. Seating is limited; reserve your seat today. For more information, email john.warren@ucr.edu.
